Homework 5

3 Examples

example

1- ' You know what i miss, i miss being bonkers!'

In my blog this has been brought up alot because it is one of the most shocking lines in my scene as it is a connfession that has a bad effect and causes disagremments and shock. From this line and the way i have perseived it,  it shows she wants a reaction and she wants to hurt callum. I do this by building up tension and saying it with anger and bursting it out rather than just saying it with no emotion. We can see lynettes objective is to shock the audience. i do this by facing the audience looking at them and postioning myself in front of callum. I change the pace and the pitch of my voice by lifting the volume at the end of the sentence and projecting my voice when needed.

2-  ' and how would we pay for that anyway I'm not like you, i dont have what it takes'

This line in my scene is quite interesting because i believe it is the oposite of my character as she is usually quiet, drifting away and gentle but ths line shows frustration and upset. At this point i have been stopped from leaving the room so tension is high but callum tries to calm me down, from this ive chosen to show that im frustrated by what he has previously said in my body language. Doing this i dont look at him in the eyes and  turn away. I deliver the end of the line seperately because it is a different thought. By saying she is not like him shows she has doubt in herself. i change my pitch here and become quieter. I also slowly move as im saying the end of the sentence this shows im thinking.

3- 'isnt it?'

This is an example of a line that is simple yet effective, this comes after callum tries to show me that me being in my own fantasy world wasnt true. Before this the atmosphear is tense and high but here the tension eases and we come to realise it was true and im not going to change. To show this i burst out my line looking at callum and then curl up sitting down. Curling up and being lower than callum shows my emotion and shows im vulnerable. Even though i project my voice and it is quite a loud line it calms down the whole process. This is effective for the audience because it is breaking down the tension and emotions change quickly.

Evaluation

Evaluation

I really enjoyed the topic of this term as i have studied the book before in english but this time i got to put all my effort and thought into a performance.

I think the performance went really well all round and everyone worked together as a team. Once we all got into character and focused The show flowed together easily. I think everyone was nervous at the start but it was much easier once we had done it to the other class.

Things we did well

-I think we got into character easily and put aside our actual thoughts and feelings and focused on our characters
-throughout the performance I reacted to what jake was saying, this helps because it makes the performance look real and it shows understanding if you are reacting. It also makes it flow because if you were talking in a conversation you wouldn't stop and stutter.
- I think me and Jake both interacted with the audience and also acknowledged them by looking at them and revealing our emotions in the way we speak.

Things we could of improved

- i think we could of improved how quick and slow we were talking because sometimes i felt as if we were slowing down to much also also  were to many  pauses which can slow down the scene and create awkwardness.
- In some part we were quiet and we could of prejected our voices further such as when jake is talking about what he wishes he could do and when im confessing 'i wish i was bonkers' by doing this we would of created an effect of passion.

On thursday we didnt do alot but we exstended our exercises and ran through  scenes 21 and on.

We did our usual physical warmup and then went into Articulation using pace and energy. Using this we went around

On thursday we went through our scenes thouroughly and Miss Lee went round and helped people develop our scenes. In my scene we focused on spacial awareness, use of pause and characterisasion. We also learned how to truly stay in our role without letting our normal selves come into the scene.

As usual we did our body and facial expressions
Here are some exercises we do:

* Articulation, sometimes we do games and tongue twisters
* Focus, relaxation and moving into character, usually lie down and close our eyes
* Flex and strech, chew gum, ski- these are a few exercises i remember because everyone enjoys these exercises and they help us move easily and develop our facial exspressions

The main subject of the Lesson was Peer assement

I was matched with Oriana and Chris. We assesed them and then filled out a few boxes of what they did well and we left a comment on what they could improve on.

The comment i left: " It was believeable when Orianna was explaining to Chris how she has now realised that life wouldnt be easy and they couldnt be together  however when chris is talking orianna needs to react with her facial expressions"

My comment was: " It was believable when you started your scene but you need to seem a little more crazy like lynette"

i took my comment and developed my role by seeming a little more lost as in the scene lynette says she misses being bonkers so she actually isnt now but she is still lost.
